White Oaks
Hunting and Shooting Preserve was founded by Gene Griner
and Andrew Jones in 2003 and is located in the lake country region
of southern Virginia adjacent to Kerr Lake.
Andrew and Marianne Jones acquired the 150 acre farm that comprises
the heart of the preserve in 1998. This was provide a place
that could be enjoyed by them and their children Evan,
Ashlan, and then newborn son Brian, and to share with them some of
the experiences that Andrew remembered from his youth in
eastern North Carolina.
Dr.
Gene Griner and Dr. Connie Kincius and their
daughters Elizabeth and Sarah are friends with the Jones
family. Gene and Andrew have shared interests in soaring, cycling,
shooting sports, sport fishing, and hunting. Whenever Gene or
Andrew buy a new toy or develop a new interest, Connie and
Marianne joke that the other will have to have all the requisite
equipment to participate within the week. Well, when it came to this
dream of establishing a very special preserve, it was obvious that
it was time to share instead of having one
each!
White
Oaks, a very private setting providing truly high quality
experiences for guests has met with rave reviews. We have
purchased two adjacent properties, and currently have better than
600 contiguous acres, with the majority owned by us, and managed
wholly for recreation and wildlife. This may seem small in
comparison to some of the big heavily used preserves, but
remember, you will not be sharing the property with anyone that you
didn't invite to come with you!
